"I will be leaving day after tomorrow for Afghanistan and Pakistan in reverse order, Pakistan first and Afghanistan," Holbrook said at a panel discussion with Senior Advisor to the Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan at the Center for American Progress, a Washington-based think tank.

"Then I will fly to Istanbul where the Turks are hosting a friend of democratic Pakistan meeting. Then the President has asked me to be on the scene during elections," Holbrook said.

Holbrook's earlier plan to visit India soon after the trip of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last month was postponed due to scheduling conflict.

At a State Department press conference after he returned from Afghanistan and Pakistan last month, Holbrook said he would be visiting India mid-August.
