Pakistan’s advisor on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz has said the dossiers on India’s alleged involvement in Pakistan’s unrest have no “material evidence” but only narrative to protect witnesses.
Aziz addressed the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Dawn reported that Aziz said the dossiers instead contained the “pattern and narrative” of Indian involvement while testifying before the committee.
“The dossiers have been meticulously prepared, but material evidence cannot be shared for the sake of protecting the sources,” he said.
Aziz maintained that the proofs could have only been provided to others in the narrative shape.
The advisor had a plan to hand over three dossiers to Indian officials in a meeting in August which was cancelled.
Later, they were shared with the UN and US officials.
The dossiers, according to previous official statements, contained proofs about Indian involvement in Balochistan, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and in Karachi.
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry told the committee that the contents of the dossiers could be shared with the members of the panel in an ‘in-camera’ session due to “the sensitivity of the matter”.
