US President Barack Obama's appearance on TV show 'The View' last week garnered 6.59 million viewers, according to market research company Nielsen.
Obama became the first sitting president to be interviewed on a daytime TV show when he appeared on 'The View'.
The episode was the programme's most-watched telecast ever, with 6.59 million viewers tuning in to watch Obama being interviewed by the show's five women hosts, including Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg.
It was on the show that Obama revealed he had not been invited to the wedding of Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
"I was not invited," the President had admitted.
"It would be tough enough to have one president at a wedding. You don't want two presidents," he had replied when asked whether he'd be attending the New York wedding.
The previous high record for 'The View' was 6.2 million, set the day after Obama won the presidential election in 2008.
The 6.59 million audience for Obama's appearance on the show exceeded the viewership for previous appearances he made on the big-three Sunday morning news shows: NBC's 'Meet the Press', ABC's 'This Week', and CBS's 'Face the Nation'.
