Singapore foreign minister K Shanmugam will be visiting India on a four-day trip in a bid to further strengthen bilateral relations and identify new areas of cooperation between the two nations.
Shanmugam would co-chair the second meeting of the Joint Ministerial Committee (JCM) for Bilateral Cooperation between Singapore and India with external affairs minister SM Krishna on Tuesday.
This would be Shanmugam's first visit to India since he assuming the post of foreign minister, a foreign ministry statement said.
During his stay, Shanmugam, who is arriving in New Delhi on Monday and stay through May 10, would also held a series of high level meetings including the JCM, a platform for both sides to review bilateral relations and identify new areas of cooperation.
Shanmugam, who is also Singapore's law minister, would call on Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Speaker of the Lok Sabha Meira Kumar, the statement said.
He would also meet Salman Khurshid, minister of law and justice and minister of minority affairs, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, as well as members of the business community.

{{/usCountry}}As part of his introductory visit, Shanmugam would travel to Guwahati in Assam and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, where he would meet the chief ministers Tarun Gogoi and Narendra Modi and obtain first-hand insights into the priorities, opportunities and challenges in these states.
Shanmugam, accompanied by foreign ministry officials, would also meet members of the business communities, said the statement.
