Thailand's swine flu death toll rises to 119

A health ministry official has reported 8 more swine flu-related deaths in Thailand, bringing the total to 119. Deputy Permanent Secretary Paijit Warachit said on Wednesday that six of the latest victims, three men and three women, suffered from other chronic diseases, including obesity, heart disease, respiratory disease and diabetes.

Paijit says the number of cases in Bangkok has dropped while it has risen in rural areas. He said there is more public awareness and that people are taking preventative measures like wearing masks and washing their hands.

He says they are finding more cases in "factory workers and farmers outside of the city," and that most are between the ages of 31 and 45.
