When Sachin Tendulkar called it a day, many jokes were cracked at the expense of Sudhir Kumar Gautam; the most circulated being “get a new job”.

He did not and never will. It is with this conviction that the unparalleled fan of Tendulkar and Indian cricket left for Australia on Friday to cheer Team India.

As usual, he will paint Tendulkar on his body, wave the tricolour and blow the conch. There will, however, be a token of nostalgia on top of where he inscribes Tendulkar. This is a first from the big daddy of cheerleaders of Team India.

It is difficult to get him to commit to who his current favourite is. Here is what he told HT before leaving for Australia:
