CBSE Class 12 result: Twins from Chandigarh score near identical marks

But the twins aren’t surprised. “That’s how it has always been,” says Neha, the elder one, while Tanya laughs and adds, “We have our share of differences but at the end of the day it is an eternal bond.”

Just as the life of Neha Goyal and Tanya Goyal is intertwined, with only three minutes separating them by birth, the same has reflected in their Class-12 scorecard with the former scoring 98.6% and the latter securing 98.4%. Both are from commerce stream.

But the twins aren’t surprised. “That’s how it has always been,” says Neha, the elder one, while Tanya laughs and adds, “We have our share of differences but at the end of the day it is an eternal bond.”

Born in a family of IAS officers, the sisters aspire to join the civil services as well. Their mother, Ritu Agarwal told HT that she saw this coming. “They’ve always performed exceedingly well and we are proud of their achievement.”

While the sisters put in 10-12 hours of study daily, Neha believed in finishing her work before stepping out. For Tanya ,it was important to take frequent breaks to ensure she was able to focus. The two sat and studied in the same room, made their own notes and enjoyed “healthy competition”. “Even our teachers and parents would constantly compare, be it marks or anything else, but then we used that in a positive way.”

But like any set of siblings, they have their share of fights over clothes, the TV remote and who would sit on passenger seat in the front, while their parents drove them around the city.

“If I would end up getting late for school, Neha would not accompany me for parties. There is always a tit-for-tat situation,” said Tanya. While Tanya loves to dance and has represented her school in western dancing, Neha enjoys cycling and reading.

But the sisters unanimously shared that they enjoy watching the Kapil Sharma show every weekend with their family.

DREAM OF JOINING SRCC IN DU

Initially students of Hanraj Public School, Neha and Tanya went on to pursue Classes 11th and 12th from Bhavan Vidyalaya. The twins wish to pursue B Com honours from SRCC in Delhi University and ultimately join the civil services like their parents.
