Who needs 80 days to go around the world, when you can just see it in seven? Gear up for an artsy globetrotting experience and head to the upcoming exhibition, Around the World in 7 Days, where 37 artworks by 25 artists from 19 countries will be on display.
“Last year we started exhibiting international artists and thought of introducing Delhiites to international art and the major pop art movements in the world,” says Sonali Batra, curator of the art show, adding that the aim of these artworks is to attract millenials, who are young and like contemporary art, and want to add it to their homes.
Among the displays is a portrait (titled Fake Ideology) of the late Hollywood actor, Heath Ledger, best known for his iconic role of the Joker in the movie, The Dark Knight. “The late actor created an iconic Joker for the new millennium and made his mark in the history of pop culture,” says Iskandar Fauzy, Indonesian artist.

{{/usCountry}}If the Joker brings a shade of darkness with him, the Metallic Pink Helium Heart, a ceramic balloon structure by artist Sivan Sternbach from Israel, brings positivity. “In their playful and tactile qualities, the balloons reflect human beings’ natural appetite for freedom and connection to the present moment. The balloons — in varying sizes, colours and levels of inflatedness, hope to trigger positive childhood memories,” says Sternbach.
The artists might be from different parts of the globe, but they’re still exposed to the same events taking place in the world today. This is why the artworks should not be dissociated from each other, and hence, the world tour comes full circle.
