Baddies rule campus at KC BMM festival

Blitzkrieg 2011 kicked off on Friday, first day witnessed wacky, entertaining events under theme of ‘It’s a bad bad world’

KC College premises were swarming with students dressed in the garb of film villains, as their annual BMM fest Blitzkrieg kicked off on Friday. Under the theme of ‘It’s a bad bad world’, the fest saw some interesting dance performances, mock band contests and print ad competitions.

The fest got off the ground with the debate competition The World Matters, wherein participants were seen in a heated discussion on the pros and cons of viral marketing and nuclear families. Bad Guy Displacement, a contest that required students to place one villain in the film setting of another, was quite a hit with the crowd. “St. Xavier’s College won the award for the best film. They replaced The Joker from The Dark Knight with The Jigsaw Killer and called it ‘Fall of the Knight’. It was a hilarious performance,” says Zeba Warsi, PR co head, Blitzkrieg.

Yeh Print Mujhe Dede Thakur, was another crowd-puller. In this contest, contingents had to create a print ad, and have their villain endorse the product. The mock band event Mockarena, wherein participants had to mimic rockstars, saw some interesting entries as well. “Students of National College performed on the song ‘Emotional Attyachar..”. As an element of surprise, we began playing the karaoke version of ‘Oh Oh Jaane Jaana..’, which was picked up beautifully by the participants,” says Warsi, adding, “St. Xaviers won this contest too, with their stripping act on stage.”
