French films gets screened in Mumbai

Festival featuring films from France caters to an increasing base of world cinema fans in the city.

While a ticket to Paris might cost you an arm and a leg, watching some of France’s latest movies will only require a trip to a multiplex near you. The French Film Festival (FFF), part of Bonjour India 2013, is bringing six popular movies to the city and will be screening them at Liberty Cinema and PVR Juhu.

Deborah Benattar, head of cinema, French Embassy, says, “From our previous stints in Mumbai, we have gathered that there is a keen interest in world cinema. We’ve opened to a full house during the Mumbai Film Festival (MFF) and hope the same happens for these films as well.”

The festival will showcase feature films like Populaire (2012), In The House (2012), Zarafa (2012), Hand In Hand (2012), The Dandelions (2011) and Camille Rewinds (2012).

“The films are different from each other, but there’s drama, romance, and animation too. This is to offer audiences a variety of genres to choose from,” says Benattar. Ask her which movie she’d recommend and she says, “All are brilliant, but I would personally recommend Zarafa. It’s one of the best animation films I have ever seen. French
cinema is big on the animation scene and you will know why when you see this film.”

Entry is free. Free seating on first come, first served basis. Passes will be available 45 minutes prior to each show at the box office.
