Consider a minor accident on the road — two men rush out of their vehicles, almost instantly throwing abuses at each other — curses that have references to women even though the latter have nothing to do with the incident. Such is the disrespect towards women — knowingly or unknowingly. A new campaign plans to fix basic derogatory attitudes such as this, and others, on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Saturday.
Fever 104 FM’s ‘Men against Abuse’ initiative, which is part of ‘Fever Voice of Change’ drive that began on February 28, will encourage men to pledge not to use offensive words, and to form the largest radio human chain to stand-up against the practice. Bollywood heartthrob John Abraham is the face of the campaign, which has already received support from various other stars including actors Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan, and cricketer Virender Sehwag.
