Junior students at AIIMS on Sunday registered a ragging complaint against their seniors alleging that they were being harassed by them and the administration was being partial.
However, the police ruled out any possibility of ragging. The police officials said there was a conflict between two groups of students and the junior students were trying to give it a colour of ragging.
On Friday, a junior student of AIIMS had lodged a complaint with the anti-ragging helpline alleging that he was ragged at AIIMS, Bhopal by five senior students on Thursday night.
However, when no action was taken by the administration and the police, the student lodged another complaint on Sunday.
In his first compliant, the student said he was forced to drink alcohol. When he refused to drink, he was beaten up by the seniors. The seniors also beat up some other junior students, he alleged. “Due to trauma and fear, we escaped the hostel,” the complainant said.
The AIIMS anti-ragging committee is probing the matter.
“On the other hand, the accused have registered a false complaint of assault against us at the Bagsewaniya police station.
“The college authorities have been fooling us and they are highly partial and are clearly helping the accused. One of the culprits is the son of an HOD of a department. We are in deep stress and are in continuous threat of being picked up by the police, even though we are the victims,” the complainant added.

{{/usCountry}}However, Bagsewaniya police station in-charge Lalit Singh said, “We have probed the matter. It is not a case of ragging. Two groups clashed with each other for tickets of singer Mika Singh’s show in AIIMS. To save themselves, the junior students are propagating the matter as ragging.”
