The Dare Devils, a motorcycle rider display team of the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals in MP, claimed to set three new records in individual categories on Friday. The events were held at Robert Track Ground of Signal Training Centre, Jabalpur.
Subedar Azad Singh ran 100 meters with a football balanced on head in 17.7 seconds, breaking the previous record of 18.53 seconds set by UK’s Daniel Cutting. “I first watched on television the event where individuals ran 100 meters keeping football balanced on their heads. Later, I decided to go for a world record attempt for which I worked hard for one and a half years,” Singh said.
Captain Manpreet Singh covered a distance of 75.20 km standing on the seat of a motorcycle. He bettered the previous record of 32.30 km set by Indore’s Ratnesh Pandey.
Havildar Sandeep Singh rode a motorcycle sitting on the handlebar for 46.90 km in 1 hour, 27 minutes and 31 seconds.
The MP high court’s acting chief justice Rajendra Menon, justice RS Jha and justice Sujoy Paul certified the records of the Dare Devils’ individual performance in three categories.
The army will forward the certified records to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Limca Book of Records, the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records for entry. The team performed in front of a large audience including senior army officers.
