This is first time occasion since swine flu outbreak that the government has come out with a figure of deaths.

During a conference here on Wednesday, health minister Narottam Mishra said 23 swine flu patients died while undergoing treatment at private hospitals while 21 deaths occurred in state-run hospitals across the state. Moreover, 66 patients were undergoing treatment for swine flu at different hospitals across the state.

Mishra also pointed out the growing number of swine flu cases in the country, including Gujarat, Rajasthan and Telangana.

The H1N1 situation was under control and stock of medicines and preventive masks was sufficient for the next six months, he added. There are 24 hospitals in both Indore and Bhopal which are treating swine flu cases.

Meanwhile, Chouhan inspected facilities of swine flu treatment at two government hospitals — JP Hospital and Hamidia Hospital — on Wednesday. He also visited screening centres as well as swine flu wards.

Interacting with mediapersons, the CM said he would take feedback from government doctors, private doctors as well as patients regarding swine flu treatment facilities.

He urged private hospitals to cooperate and help in combating the situation and treat the patients for free.
