The gym trainer Renu Sahu, 21, perhaps suspected that she could be attacked by Sanjay Patil, property dealer.
And, hence she tried to enlist help of the police to avert any such incident but that was not to be.
The victim, who is under treatment at a private hospital, had first complained at Bajaria police station on May 17, after Patil barged into her house and beat her up.
Bajaria town inspector MK Malviya later deputed a sub-inspector Mahipal Singh Dhruve to conduct a probe, but nothing was done by the police till Friday.
On May 20, Patil went to the victim’s work place — Ironman Gym — located near Apsara Talkies and beat her up and also created ruckus.
The victim, who was rescued by her colleague, later approached the Aishbagh police station and lodged a complaint. Here too, the police registered the victim’s complaint but didn’t act.
Apart from the fact that police failed to take action on the victims’ two previous complaints, they again ignored her complaint on Friday while she was being chased by the assailant.
She rushed to Ashoka Garden police station and sought help from the police sub-inspector on duty Rup Singh but he refused to listen to her plea and asked her to go to Bajaria police station.

“Had they listened to the plea of my daughter and helped, she would not have been in hospital right now. She was also under severe metal trauma as Patil had been harassing her and also threatening but police was not taking any action,” said the victim’s mother Mamta Sahu.
Insensitivity of policemen continued even after the attack. They were forcing the victim to accompany them to police station to lodge a complaint.
“When I reached the spot and tried to take her to hospital, a policeman came to me and snatched the key of car saying that she would have to first go to police station and then hospital. But I argued and snatched back the key and took her to hospital as she needed immediate treatment,” said Amol Karmalkar, the gym’s manager, whom the victim had called after her mother didn’t answer the phone call.
It was the callousness of the police department that the government had to swing into action after the attack and action taken against the police personnel concerned.
Talking to Hindustan Times, home minister Babulal Gaur also accepted the negligence of police personnel and said that action against three police personnel including a town inspector had been taken and a probe had also been ordered.
“I have instructed Inspector general of police (IG) to conduct a probe of all three police stations and also into the matter why did police not act on complaint and submit a report. After preliminary investigation, three police personnel have been suspended,” said Gaur.
