Bhopal teen gets award from Prez for academic excellence

Thirteen-year-old Ayush Kishore of Bhopal was conferred with the National Children Award 2016 by President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony in New Delhi on the Children’s Day.

Ayush received the award that consists of a citation, a certificate, silver medal, cash prize of Rs 10,000, book vouchers worth Rs 3,000, books by APJ Kalam and a wrist watch.

“It is a matter of pride for the whole state. He is among the 31 children who are being felicitated from across the country,” says Ayush’s mother Vinita Malvi, who happens to be the crime against women wing’s additional inspector general.

“He has got the award in academics category for his outstanding work in the field of mental maths. In 2012, he bagged second position in a mental arithmetic competition held in Chennai. In 2013, he participated in an international arithmetic championship where he bagged the title of grand champion of mental Maths. Here he competed with 28 countries and stood first,” says Vinita.

Ayush also holds records in India and Limca Book of World Records and is given a doctorate degree by World Record University, UK, says Vinita.
