Every police station in MP to have woman constable: DGP

In order to effectively check crimes against women, a female constable will be posted in every police station of Madhya Pradesh, state director general of police (DGP) Surendra Sinh said.

"A woman constable will be posted in every police station of the state to effectively check crimes against women," Sinh told reporters.

Admitting that there is a shortage of manpower in police force, he, however said that in the last four years, efforts were made to recruit more personnel. Five thousand new posts were also sanctioned by the state government in this regard, he said.

Besides, the government has also reserved 30% posts for women which will address the problem of shortage of women in police force, he said.

Replying to a question, he said police will be made more sensitive, effective and accountable towards society.

He also said that at present there is no plan to change the police uniform, but discussions on the issue are going on.
