A 25-year-old man in Gwalior’s Padav area was arrested on charge of killing his father-in-law’s brother, police said on Friday.

Vicky Gujrati, a street vendor, had gone to his in-laws’ house at Gujrati Colony on Wednesday where he opposed his wife Janki Devi playing dandiya. When father-in-law Kailash Singh intervened and took Janki’s side, Gujrati attacked him with a knife.

To save Kailash, his brother Jagdish Singh tried to stop Gujrati and, in the process, suffered serious injuries.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died, the police said.

“After the incident, Gujrati escaped from the spot. He was arrested by the police on Thursday evening. A case was registered against him for murder and attempt to murder under relevant sections of IPC and would be presented before the court on Friday,” said Padav town inspector Madam Mohan Malviya.
