It was a day full of fun, frolic and food for the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of Madhya Pradesh, who had gathered at the Lal Parade ground in Bhopal on Sunday, the second day of the three-day IPS Service Meet.
Various games and sports activities were conducted for the IPS officers and their family members on the second day. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and claps, as the officers and their family members participated in games like ring throwing, lemon race, sack race, three-legged race and musical chair.
The main event of the day was a cricket match between Director General of Police (DGP) 11 and DGP (Housing Corporation) 11, in which DGP 11 successfully chased the 83-run target given by DGP (Housing Corporation) 11 in 12 overs. Both the teams fought hard for the victory in the match, which was made more entertaining with an addition of commentary filled with jokes and leg-pulling of the players. In an interesting rule of the match, no batsman was allowed to play more than six deliveries and no bowler was allowed to bowl more than one over.
The activities organised were thoroughly enjoyed by all the officers and their family members, as many felt that it’s a great opportunity to increase the interaction between all the IPS officers and build a team spirit among them. “This type of event helps in creating a better understanding and co-ordination among all the officers of the state. Also, these are rare opportunities which they usually don’t get in which they tend to meet their colleagues from all over the state,” said Surendra Sinh, the director general of police (DGP).

{{/usCountry}}DGP (Housing Corporation) Rishi Kumar Shukla also supported the DGP Surendra’s thoughts and said that the event like Service Meet acts as a stress-buster for the officers. “The officers are usually exhausted after hectic duty hours and don’t get time for themselves as well as their families. But events like this help them in bursting the stress of duty in a major way,” DGP Rishi said.
