Man beaten to death for filing case against village strongman in Raisen

A man was allegedly beaten to death while his wife assaulted on Saturday for filing an FIR accusing a village strongman of sexually harassing their minor daughter at village Bagh Pipariya under Bareli police station of Raisen district.

A man was allegedly beaten to death while his wife assaulted on Saturday for filing an FIR accusing a village strongman of sexually harassing their minor daughter at village Bagh Pipariya under Bareli police station of Raisen district.

The local police have, however, said the deceased was in a habit of registering cases against his fellow villagers and had also lodged a fake case against a relative of the accused sometimes back.

They confirmed that the deceased, Munna, 35, was beaten to death with sticks and his wife assaulted in front of the villagers on Saturday morning following a fresh dispute with the accused, identified as Pappu Singh Chauhan and Guddu Singh Chauhan.

Police said that none of the villagers had come to their rescue. The woman has been referred to Bhopal in a critical condition.

The incident triggered palpable tension in the area following which heavy police force was rushed to the village to avert any untoward incident.

Bareli police station in-charge Manoj Singh said that a case under IPC sections 302, 307 and relevant sections of Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act has been registered against the accused and manhunt was on to nab them.
