Raisen collector JK Jain said with no fresh incidents of violence, curfew was eased. "The situation is under control. No new incident has been reported in the last 24 hours. The security personnel have controlled the situation efficiently," he added.

The curfew was imposed on Monday by district administration following communal tension over alleged cow slaughter in butcher's market. Incidents of arson, stone pelting and ruckus at some places were reported in the town. About half-a-dozen people received injuries in violent incidents.

Police have arrested eight people involved in slaughtering and sent them to jail. Gairatganj police station town inspector (TI) SS Patel said all the eight people, who were involved in the slaughter, have been arrested under Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977 and later sent to jail.
