In Sagar, a 16-year-old boy was washed away when water current suddenly swelled in Sunar river under Garhakota police station. The search for the boy is on.

Police said Sonu Ahirwar (16), a resident of Tagore ward, had gone to Sunar river for bathing when he was washed away.

In Nasrullahganj of Sehore, it was pouring from 8am to 12 noon causing severe waterlogging in both urban and rural areas.

The roads leading to tehsil headquarters from villages were severed, power supply was disrupted because of rived electric wires and, in general, life was thrown out of gear.

The Met office said that 11cm of rainfall was recorded within four hours in the areas. Rural areas like Bhadakui, Ambakdim, Ladkui, Mariado, Pachore, Hathighat, Naharkheda and two dozen other villages were cut off from the headquarters.

Water started flowing over a culvert between Obaidullahganj and Delawadi, causing the road traffic between Bhopal and Nasrullahganj to be disrupted.

The flood control room in Bhopal said the situation is in control in most parts of the state as rainfall has decreased.

Till now, 17 rain-related deaths have been reported in the season, the control room said.
