Congress and BJP corporators created ruckus in the general council meeting of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) here on Friday, demanding FIR be lodged against persons who allegedly connived in the submission of a forged "document of compromise between BMC and the hoarding owners" in the high court in the case related to hoardings in Bhopal.
Hoarding owners had gone to court in 2007-08 and got stay for 1057 hoardings. BMC Has been fighting the case. BMC was hopeful of getting a favourable verdict, but now allegations have come to fore that there were efforts to scuttle the process, alleged Congress corporators.
As a soon as the House proceedings started, some Congress corporators led by corporator Abdul Shafiq started questioning how a "document of compromise" was submitted in the high court without the approval of mayor-in-council, BMC's general council and signature of the BMC commissioner. They demanded that all persons responsible for such a "forgery" should be booked.
Shafiq said though the document was later withdrawn, the fact remains that some people tried to cheat BMC to favour hoarding owners. He said the document was prepared in the last council meeting of the previous BMC council.

The total amount for last so many years amounts to around Rs 300 crore. But the compromise document claimed that BMC was ready for deposition of the fee on THE old rates. According to old rates, they will have to pay just around Rs 90 lakh. This is a big conspiracy and all those people behind it should be punished", claimed Abdul Shafiq.

{{/usCountry}}After corporators from both sides came into the well and shouted slogans that they want FIR against such persons, speaker BMC council Surjit Singh Chouhan directed the BMC commissioner Tejaswi Naik to probe the matter. "Without investigating the matter, I cannot order any action. Let the report come then I will see", he said.
The House also decided that the issues to be raised in the question hour, which couldn't be held on Friday, will now be taken up in the next council meeting.
In the end, floral tributes were paid to the former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The corporators also expressed their condolences over the demise of Congress corporator Girish Sharma's father JP Sharma, who was cremated on Friday morning.

BMC general council passed a resolution moved by BJP corporator Kewal Mishra to name Barkheda Pathani in Bhopal as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Nagar.
A statue of Kalam will also be erected in the area. Other resolutions, which were earlier announced by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, were also passed in the House.
They included writing TT Nagar as Tatya Tope Nagar, naming multilevel parking at MP Nagar as Tatya Tope Parking, naming multilevel parking at MP Nagar as Mahrana Pratap Nagar Parking and making Bhopal a heritage city.
The council also passed a resolution regarding construction of toilets under Mukhyamantri Shahri Swachhta Mission.
