Alia did not need to hold my finger to walk in the industry: Mahesh Bhatt

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt says that daughter, actor Alia Bhatt has always made him proud.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt never felt the need to guide or be protective about daughter, actor Alia Bhatt when she joined the industry at an age of 19 years. And that’s because he had faith in filmmaker Karan Johar who launched her.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt talks about his daughters Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt.

“She had a great mentor Karan Johar who is the youth icon. He has been protective and she did not need to hold on to my finger to walk in the industry. This industry is as beautiful and as conflict ridden as any other industry in the world,” says Bhatt.

Not just Alia, Bhatt says that his elder daughter Pooja Bhatt, who has been part of hit films such as Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991), Daddy(1989), Zakhm (1998) and Junoon (1992) too, has etched her path in the industry. Much to his joy.

“Pooja and Alia have made their father superfluous and that is what I always dreamt about. They came from me but they have developed a vision to see my world view. I feel they give me such pride when I see them walk through life on their own terms without making anyone their crutch. What more can a parent want, all I can ask from life is that their children also walk high irrespective of anything,” says the filmmaker.
