As Sonam Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding and Harshvardhan’s Bhavesh Joshi Superhero clash, dad Anil Kapoor’s anxious

While Harshvardhan Kapoor claims he does not look at Bhavesh Joshi Superhero and sister Sonam’s Veere Di Wedding as a clash but as ‘a great opportunity’, dad Anil has confessed he is a bit anxious.

Sonam Kapoor, who recently got married but postponed her honeymoon plans as she has to promote Veere Di Wedding, was all set for a solo release on June 1. However, makers of her brother Harshvardhan’s upcoming project, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero decided to shift its release date from May 25 to June 1, leaving the siblings at two warring ends of the box office.

Sonam Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding and Harshvardhan Kapoor’s Bhavesh Joshi Superhero will clash at the box office on June 1.

The internet was flooded with jokes around the brother-sister clash at the box office and even their dad, Anil Kapoor, has said he is anxious with the two films hitting theatres on the same day. He told Mid Day in an interview, “These calls [about a film’s release date] are made by the respective studios and distributors, and I respect that. In my entire career, I have never said ki ab release karo ya abhi release mat karo. Neither Harsh nor I are in a position to say anything about the release date. As a father, I will be anxious about my children. We have to wish for the best.”

However when asked if he could shift the release of Veere Di Wedding, which is a home production as Rhea Kapoor has produced it in collaboration with Ekta Kapoor, Anil added, “The decision regarding Veere’s release date has been taken by Rhea and Ekta Kapoor.”

Harshvardhan, on the other hand, appeared more positive about the two films releasing on the same day. He told Mumbai Mirror in an interview, “The films belong to two completely different worlds. It’s a great date for both of them because it’s the first weekend after the end of the country’s biggest cricketing league. The other big releases will have filtered out by then too. Sonam, Rhea, dad (Anil Kapoor) and I are thrilled about the simultaneous releases because June 1 will be a day of celebration. We are not looking at it as a clash, it’s a great opportunity. With dad, Arjun (Kapoor, cousin), Jahnvi (Kapoor, cousin) and many other siblings working round-the-clock at the movies, there are bound to be more overlaps in the future.”

While Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is a vigilante film that promises some intense action and hand combat fights, Veere Di Wedding is a female buddy comedy that also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania.
