The first weekend collection of Saif Ali Khan’s Chef is out and, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film is off to a really bad start. In fact, at this point, it almost seems impossible for it to recover from the initial jolts. Chef has earned only Rs 4 crore in its first three days.

Saif Ali Khan plays a divorcee in Chef and that was a trigger point for CBFC.

Rajkummar Rao’s Newton, India’s official entry to the Oscars this year, is still going strong at the ticket window. The timely announcement served the film big time and it cashed in on the solid world of mouth after favourable reviews. Newton, that released on September 22, has garnered more than Rs 20 crore so far.

Given its small budget, these numbers are beyond expectations. This also makes it Rajkummar’s second hit in a row after Bareilly Ki Barfi.

These numbers are clear indicators that the audiences are also looking for content-driven films.
