Despite bad reviews YPD 2 earns more than Rs. 22 crore over weekend

Despite receiving flak from the critics, the Deol home production - Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 managed to rake a decent collection at the box office in first weekend. The opening collections were 7.50 crore. The earnings dipped on Saturday to Rs. 6.50 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#YPD2 collected Rs. 22.25 cr to 22.50 cr nett in its opening weekend. Fri Rs. 7.50 cr, Sat Rs. 6.50 cr, Sun Rs. 8.25 cr to Rs. 8.50 cr.



Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan said that YPD 2 is doing well in single screens, but business is not overwhelming in the multiplexes.



Produced under the Deols' banner Vijyata Films, the cast has National Award winning actors Annu Kapoor and Anupam Kher as well as Neha Sharma, Christina Akheeva, Sucheta Khanna and Johnny Lever.

Deols are known to be a big draw in Punjab, but Jaspal Dhingra of Nanaksar Enterprises from the state said: "YPD 2 is not doing a good business. It's a very average film as compared to the first one. The quality of the film is not good."
