In the last couple of years, an increasing number of film-makers have shot at locations in Kolkata and its suburbs. And the spots have remained popular with tourists long after the shooting was done.

A recent example of this occurrence is a house where director Ali Abbas Zafar’s next, Gunday, was filmed.
The film stars Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, who play Bala and Bikram respectively. "The bungalow in Phool Ghat, where a large part of the film was shot with Ranveer and Arjun, has been renamed as Bikram-Bala Sadan," says an insider close to the film’s production team. The house has been popular with residents of Kolkata and adjacent neighbourhoods since shooting began.
The owners are hoping that the place will remain a tourist attraction even after the movie releases.

Ali says, "When we heard that the owners were doing this, we were surprised. In the last six to eight months many people visited that house and the owners will be opening it up as a tourist place once the film releases."
