Here's why Darshan did not talk to Anushka Sharma on NH 10 sets

Actor Darshan Kumar avoided meeting Anushka Sharma off sets so their uncomfortable chemistry comes through on screen

After his supportive husband-act in Mary Kom (2014), Darshan Kumar will now be seen in a totally different avatar in Anushka Sharma’s maiden production venture.

The actor plays a goon in the film, and to stay true to this dark character, he decided to not indulge in any conversations with Anushka and coactor Neil Bhoopalam. "Darshan has a negative role in the film, and he preferred staying in character even after the shot was over. He didn’t talk to Anushka and kept to himself," says a source.

When contacted, Darshan explains the move, saying, "I do theatre with Naseeruddin Shah, and he taught me the importance of staying in character all the time. My equation with Anushka in the film is very awkward. She is a bubbly and energetic girl, so it’s easy to get comfortable with her, which would have affected my performance on screen. So, throughout our 60-day schedule, I used to sit at least a kilometre away from her. The irony is that she is so beautiful that I wanted to go and speak to her, but I couldn’t. I chatted with her only on the last day of the shoot."
