From breeding horses, selling carpets to taking up organic farming, the singer-actor has always followed his heart. “I believe life’s secrets lie in the journey, not the destination. My new album’s title, Raasta Man, also reflects that,” says the 53-year-old.

Ali, who was in the Capital to launch his 25-city tour to promote his sixth album, that he has composed and produced, has put up all his songs on the album’s website for free downloading. “I want my fans to get access to my music for free. They anyway pay for our concerts. In fact, instead of concert tickets, the fans will get a CD,” says the Bangalore-based singer.

Ali is also making a movie, also titled Raasta Man. “I play a taxi driver in it. Everyone is a protagonist in my film,” he said during his visit to the Sura Vie lounge in the city. He’s making the film in collaboration with a company in Hyderabad and has started a company, Holistic Republic.
