Judwaa 2 earns Rs 119 cr at box office, becomes Varun Dhawan’s biggest solo hit ever

Judwaa 2 has earned Rs 119 crore at the box office, becoming one of the biggest hits of 2017. This is Varun Dhawan’s second blockbuster this year.

As Varun Dhawan-starrer demolishes competition at the box office to stay rock steady in week two, it has emerged as the actor’s biggest solo hit ever. With its Monday collections, the film surpassed Badrinath Ki Dulhania -- the 2017 hit starring Alia Bhatt and Varun -- at the ticket windows. Sharing the details, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “#Judwaa2 has a ROCK-STEADY Mon... [Week 2] Fri 4.25 cr, Sat 5.75 cr, Sun 8.10 cr, Mon 2.91 cr. Total: 119.09 cr. India biz. SUPERHIT... #Judwaa2 has surpassed *lifetime biz* of Varun Dhawan’s #BadrinathKiDulhania [ 116.60 cr] and is now his *solo hero* HIGHEST GROSSER.”

The film stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles while Varun plays a double role. Directed by David Dhawan, the film is a reiteration of Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor’s 1997 hit Judwaa. That was also directed by David.

Judwaa 2, despite getting mixed reviews, has managed to set the cash registers ringing. It has also fended off competition from Saif Ali Khan’s Chef and enjoys an open window at the box office till Diwali when Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar comes out.
