Katrina Kaif denied leave for Christmas

However, for the first time, this year, Katrina might have to miss her UK trip. We have learnt that the actor will be required to promote her next release — Dhoom:3 — in which she stars alongside Aamir Khan.

“Since it’s a big franchise, everyone will need to be heavily involved with the marketing. And since Aamir is already believed to have given tentative dates for the promotions, Katrina has to be available around the same time. So it looks like she won’t be able to visit her family this year,” says a source.

There have been speculations that Dhoom:3 might not release during Christmas (traditionally, a profitable release period for Aamir’s films).

However, (producers) Yash Raj Films have confirmed that the film will stay on course for a Christmas release. “Post-production work is presently on. The makers have a big publicity plan in place,” says the source.

In the past, Katrina has always put everything else aside to be with her family during Christmas. Last year, she apparently rejected three offers (worth Rs5 crore each) to perform on New Year’s Eve. In 2011, she took her only break in the year to spend a week in London, from Christmas to New Year. Again, in 2009, she turned down another offer by a five-star hotel in Juhu (apparently for Rs2.5 crore).

While Katrina couldn’t be reached for a comment, her official spokesperson confirms the news, saying, “Katrina will be busy promoting Dhoom:3 releasing on Christmas. As of now, we have no confirmation on her holiday plans.”
