Maanvi Gagroo: Big stars can bring in a good opening, but it’s the content that prevails

Actor Maanvi Gagroo is happy that smaller films today are taking on films with big budgets and strong star power.

Actor Maanvi Gagroo, who’s a known name today, thanks to web-series such as Tripling, will be seen in the film Tu Hai Mera Sunday alongside Barun Sobti, Sahana Goswami and Vishal Malhotra. While she has been a part of big films in the past such as No one Killed Jessica (2011) and PK (2014), she is more excited for this slice-of-life drama.

“I enjoy doing this genre because I understand it better. As an actor, it gives me more satisfaction. But honestly, I am a little scared of comedy, because I am not funny. I always get nervous when I have to do such scenes in front of the camera!” says Maanvi.

Referring to small films, such as Newton doing so well, Maanvi says she feels happy because this trend is surely going to help her film. “There’s a wave going on [of such films doing well]. Stars can bring in the initial opening, but after a point, the film has its own life. If we see the trend that has been there in 2017, big films with crowd-pullers haven’t done well, but good content has taken the lead. The audience has matured,” she says, adding, “Also, since we have started consuming so much international content too on web, there’s a higher standard set now.”
