Actor Mandira Bedi is perhaps an apt example of a power woman. An actor, TV host, cricket presenter, traveller, doting wife and mother to a five-year-old — Mandira is balancing everything with so much ease that it seems too good to be true.
Ask her about it and she promptly replies, “Balance does not come naturally to any working mother, I can assure you that. Before I had my son, I used to travel a lot, almost 40-50 days at a time for cricket tournaments. And people used to wonder — I’d say ‘yeah it’s difficult,’ but all that is rubbish because when you become a mother and that too, a hands-on parent like me, things change.”
Mandira says her son, Vir means the world to her and her life revolves around him. Even when it gets difficult to manage home affairs due to work commitments and travel, Mandira assures that she covers up for the loss when she’s back home. “It’s a huge juggle and there’s no formula. Each day, you have to find new ways. So when I’m in Mumbai, I do everything within my son’s school hours. I drop him to school, pick him up and then I’m there with him for every class, jog, game… till he goes to sleep. If I have to go out for dinner, it’s after he’s off to sleep. So in a way, he sees me everywhere throughout the day,” says the 44-year-old actor.

And to play a doting mommy, Mandira ensures that she doesn’t stay out for overnight shooting schedules. “I’m shooting for a web series and I’ve been doing day trips to Goa. I’ve given them three days because beyond that, I can’t stay away from my son. Even if I have a shoot in the morning, I don’t go a night before because that would mean one less night with my son and I don’t want to lose time on him.”
