Among those who want to release their films during the end-of-year festive period are Anurag Kashyap with Bombay Velvet and Aamir Khan with P.K.. Now, it’s set to become a three-way clash with Anees Bazmee looking to release Welcome Back at the same time too.

With the makers of

Welcome Back

refuting a possible change in release date, the father-son duo of Naseeruddin Shah and Vivaan Shah is set to clash at the box office. While Naseer stars in Welcome Back , the sequel to Welcome (2007), Vivaan is a part of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, Bombay Velvet.

Speaking about his release plans, Bazmee says, “You tell me which weekend we should move to and we will do that. What do we do? There’s hardly any open weekend left in 2014. So we have no option. Even Welcome had released on the Christmas weekend in 2007.” At that time, the comedy had clashed with Aamir Khan’s directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par.

FIRST LOOK: WELCOME BACK

Talk in the trade circle is that the makers of

Bombay Velvet

are reluctant to shift their release date. On the other hand, Aamir and the producers of P.K. are mulling the possibility of a December 19 or 20 release. Maneesh Sharma’s Fan was earlier supposed to release that weekend, but the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is unlikely to keep its date.

An insider adds, “Not many have noticed, but Dhoom:3 (2013) also came out on December 20. But let’s see what Aamir, Hirani (Rajkumar; director and co-producer) and others decide.”
