Bollywood producer-director Aditya Chopra’s mother, Pamela, has taken the wraps off the suspense around her daughter-in-law Rani Mukherji’s pregnancy. While the couple has been tight-lipped about it, grandmom-to-be Pamela, in an interview to a Mumbai-based daily, has spoken at length about her “longing to be” a grandmother, and how neither Aditya nor Uday “obliged her”.

Speaking to DNA, Pamela said: “I have been dying to become a grandmother for years now and Adi was just not obliging me. And every time I spoke to Uday about having a child, he would tell me, ‘Don’t expect me to get married to give you one…’ or ‘Then you have to wait…’ When Adi got married, I knew he and Rani were quite ready to have a baby but then it wasn’t happening.”
She added that her heart “skips a beat every time she thinks about her grandchild”.
When asked if she has made any plans yet, Pamela said: “Adi and Rani don’t live in my home, so no. But I would rather let Rani do everything herself. These days girls have their own set ideas and don’t want others to interfere but whenever she needs any advice on anything, she calls me,” she said.
