Purab Kohli watched hours of torture videos to prep for new role

Actor Purab Kohli talks about the emotional stress he went through to prepare for his next role.

Actors often go through a lot of preparation for their role before they start shooting but actor Purab Kohli’s has taken it to a new level for his upcoming film.

Actor Purab Kohli says it was important for him to learn about the character in a detailed way.

Kohli, who will be seen as a prisoner of war in his next film, met therapists to understand the psyche of prisoners.“I knew to I had to give my best for a good performance. It was important for me to understand what the prisoners went through. It was emotionally draining but I was willing to go through this. It has helped me understand a lot and I hope my hard work shows in the film,” says Kohli.

“Purab took to consulting a real life therapist to understand the emotional being of someone who’s been a prisoner. But it was his research work to watch torture videos that deeply disturbed the actor. Purab had to watch hours of re-enacted torture videos based on real life incidents wherein he experienced the cruel ways in which prisoners are tortured,” says a source.

The actor, who has been part of films such as Bas Ek Pal, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Jal, talks about the perks of his profession.“The most interesting thing about being an actor is that you are constantly learning about new things. Sometimes they are very fascinating and endearing and sometimes it can be quite intense and dark like what I play in my upcoming film,” he says.
