After a year’s delay, the Anurag Kashyap film, starring wife Kalki Koechlin, will hit theatres in the first week of September, after being ready for around a year now. Kalki confirms, “I’ve been asked to keep aside that time to promote the film. It was constantly getting pushed because we wanted the US and India release at the same time. It didn’t make sense to release it here first and risk it circulating on the Internet.”

But after the film’s release, the couple has decided to take a break from working together. “There’s nothing planned. And anyway, we’ve been getting trashed for working together all the time,” jokes Kalki, who made her debut in her husband’s 2007 film, Dev.D. Besides TGIYB, she’s also starred in Shaitan this year, which Anurag co-produced.

The actor now has two upcoming projects — Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s My Friend Pinto and Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai – both of which she’s finished shooting for. “In the former, I play an innocent, wide-eyed girl. I’m really looking forward to this film, because the characters are all larger than life. In Shanghai, I play an NRI, who returns to her small town in India to look after her grandmother. She’s passionate, young and fiery-tempered. She doesn’t think before she acts, and ends up getting involved in politics.”
