HT Café has now learnt that Ranveer did not just meet the soccer star, he also had an “inspirational” talk about his new film, which is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ranveer felt “motivated” after a heart-to-heart conversation with the sportsman.

“Ranveer is a football aficionado, and Thierry is one of his all-time favourite players. Although he was busy preparing for Padmavati, and had cut himself off from social events to focus on his role, he did not want to miss out on the opportunity to meet Thierry,” says an insider.

During their meeting, Ranveer told the footballer “how big a fan” he was and also discussed his “predicament”. “Ranveer talked about feeling pressurised due to people’s continuous expectations of him to keep bettering his performance with each new film,” adds the insider.

Thierry’s response to Ranveer was apparently a “great morale booster”. “Thierry told Ranveer that he has faced similar situations in his career, and it is best to not think about the past, and focus only on the next assignment at hand. He advised him to put in his best and [perform] even better than the last time,” adds the insider.

Since the Bajirao Mastani (2015) actor is such a big fan of Thierry, he was amazed by the “motivational words”. “Ranveer feels he was a godsend, especially at a time when he was just a few days away from shooting for a tough film,” adds the insider. Ranveer could not be reached for a comment.
