While Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s film Raman Raghav 2.0 got rave reviews, it failed to overpower the enigma of Hollywood, collecting only Rs 3.98 crore over the first weekend. In comparison, Independence Day Resurgence collected an impressive Rs 16.90 crore in the same period.

Positive film reviews need not always translate into more sales on the ticket windows. Case in point: Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0. While the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Vicky Kaushal film got rave reviews, it failed to overpower the enigma of Hollywood, collecting only Rs 3.98 crore over the first weekend since its release. In comparison, Independence Day: Resurgence collected an impressive Rs 16.90 crore in the same period.

After making a decent opening at the box office on Friday with Rs 1.10 crore, Raman Raghav 2.0 remained steady, collecting Rs 1.40 crore and Rs 1.48 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Based on the infamous serial killer Psycho Raman from the 1960s Mumbai, Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0 traces the life of a fictional psychotic killer Ramanna (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who is inspired by Raghav.

However, after making an impressive opening of Rs 4.70 crore, the Jeff Goldblum disaster movie made Rs 5.80 crore and Rs 6.40 crore on Saturday and Sunday. The total weekend collection for the Hollywood film stood at Rs 16.90 crore at the domestic ticket windows.
