Diamond company De Beers has got a reconnaissance permit to explore diamond availability at Hiradah in Jharkhand's Gumla district.

"The company would make a survey whether there is a possibility of diamond repository at Hiradah," Jharkhand's Director (Mines) Bipin Behari Singh told PTI in Ranchi.

"And if the survey yields any positive result, the company would give a detailed prospecting application to the department," he said.

It would take some time before De Beers got official communication from the state mines department to launch its reconnaissance, Singh said when asked when would the diamond explorer would start its work.
