Talking to Hindustan Times on Thursday, DuPont president (South Asia) Balvinder Kalsi said, “We are working with car manufactures in the country with a focus on providing the solutions that they need on certain broad themes — sustainability, light-weight, fuel efficiency, etc.”

Tata Motors corporate communications head Debashish Ray confirmed as much. “We have developed Indica Vista electric car for the UK markets, which will be launched later this year,” he said. “As for India, the infrastructure in terms of charging points is not ready. It will be too premature to say when we will be rolling out electric Vista for the Indian markets.”

The company provides solutions in terms of supplying hi-tech polymers that are replacing certain metal parts in the car components. It also supplies parts that go in making of electric cars.

DuPont is also setting up an innovation centre in Pune to help original equipment manufacturers develop new technology.

“The centre will collaborate with automobile companies to help address their demand for new technology innovations that are required to support the growth in one of the world’s fastest growing markets,” DuPont India head Amandeep Cheema said.
