Indian companies continue to create jobs for Americans in the US.

According to a CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) report released on Wednesday, 36 Indian companies have created 52,000 jobs in the US since 2005.

The figure would have been much higher — estimated 70,000 — if two major companies had responded to the survey, CII officials told Hindustan Times.

A string of US lawmakers showed up at the release to express support for India-US ties and attract Indian businesses to their districts.

“This survey (Indian roots, American soil) confirms that Indian companies are key drivers of US job creation and economic activity,” said Senator Mark Warner, co-chair of Senate India caucus.

“Indian companies are going global,” said Ed Royce, co-chair of the House caucus on India and Indian Americans.”
