It’s raining discounts on air tickets as budget carriers announced a monsoon sale on Tuesday. This is the fourth flash sale by SpiceJet in the last one month and third by IndiGo.
While IndiGo announced an all-inclusive fare starting Rs 1699, SpiceJet is offering tickets starting `1,999.
The discounted tickets can be booked till July 17 for travel between August 18 and September 30. GoAir was matching fares on some sectors.
“July-September is a lean period for airlines as it falls between the summer breaks and the festive season beginning October. Such offers help stimulate the market,” said Subhash Goyal, president, Indian Association of Tour Operators.
“People in metro cities have started taking small breaks and August will offer long weekends like August 15-17. Such low-fares provide an excellent opportunity,” said Rajji Rai, chairman, Swift Travel International Ltd.
“With popular destinations such as Goa, Guwahati, Port Blair, Dharamsala, Udaipur and Kochi being served under these promotions, we expect travellers to make use of this limited-period offer. Travellers can receive discounts ranging from 50-80% depending on the sector,” said Rajesh Magow, co-founder and CEO-India, MakeMyTrip.
