Dr JS Sarma, during his address, said, “I have been witness to an exciting journey that the country has taken in the area of telecommunications. I think there are opportunities for everyone here since telecom has thrown open a considerable opportunity for everyone. We have had tremendous growth – about 10 million net adds every month – and we will continue to grow and achieve the 500 million subscribers target before the end of this year. We will continue to achieve more in the course of the next 5 years as we become a billion plus. This, in my opinion, gives all entrepreneurs tremendous opportunity.”

Eminent speakers like R Chandrashekhar, Secretary, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology; Dinesh Rai, Secretary of Ministry of MSME and Deepak Gupta, Secretary Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, addressed the present delegates and also interacted with them.

TiEcon Delhi 2009 also witnessed budding entrepreneurs interacting with industry leaders and attending several panel discussions on strategies to efficiently tackle challenging times and the downturn.
