Considering contradictions in the statements of the victim, additional district and sessions judge Anshu Shukla on Friday acquitted 21-year-old SAS Nagar resident booked on charges of raping the girl on pretext of marriage.

Considering contradictions in the statements of the victim, additional district and sessions judge Anshu Shukla on Friday acquitted 21-year-old SAS Nagar resident booked on charges of raping the girl on pretext of marriage.

The order came as a respite to Navendo, 21, who was booked by the UT police on August 21.
The girl who was in relationship with Navendo had alleged that he had repeatedly raped her on various occasions.

However, the court taking into consideration the contradictions in the statements of the victim acquitted Navendo. The girl in her cross examination had admitted to have registered the case to pressurise the alleged accused to marry her.
