Out of total procurement, government agencies procured 91.70 lakh tonne, whereas private traders procured just 1,431 tonnes, an official spokesperson said.

FCI has procured 13.58 lakh tonnes which is 14.8% of the total lifting.

The spokesman said Sangrur district was leading in procurement operations with the arrival of 10.61 lakh tonne, followed by Patiala at 9.75 lakh tonnes.

Punjab has set a target to procure 115 lakh tonnes in the current season.
