Amarinder hails court verdict

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh has hailed the verdict of a CBI court which sentenced Jagir Kaur to five-year imprisonment in a case relating to abduction, forceful abortion and mysterious death of her daughter Harpreet Kaur.

"The law has ultimately taken its course and the guilty stand punished," Capt Amarinder Singh said in a statement issued here on Friday.

He said Bibi Jagir Kaur's "conviction against all odds has reaffirmed the faith of people in the judiciary which does real justice with everyone, no matter how powerful or influential he or she may be".

The PPCC chief said: "We are proud of our judiciary which has finally punished the guilty."
