Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal hailed the appointment of leading NRI entrepreneur Lord Swraj Paul who has created a history by becoming the first Asian Deputy Speaker of the British House of Lords.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday hailed the appointment of leading NRI entrepreneur Lord Swraj Paul who has created a history by becoming the first Asian Deputy Speaker of the British House of Lords.

In a congratulatory message, Badal said that Lord Swraj Paul has made Indians in general and Punjabis in particular proud on his appointment to such a high position in UK Parliament.

He said that Lord Paul being a son of Punjab had depicted unflinching courage and indomitable spirit to attain the highest position ever held by any Indian in UK's Parliament. He wished him a very successful tenure.
