Chandigarh police nab two snatchers, including a proclaimed offender

The city police claimed to have nabbed two snatchers including a proclaimed offender wanted by the Himachal Pradesh (HP) police.

The city police claimed to have nabbed two snatchers including a proclaimed offender wanted by the Himachal Pradesh (HP) police.

The duo has been involved in 10 incidents of snatchings in the city.

The proclaimed offender, identified as Kamal Thakur alias Honey, 23, is a native of Bilaspur, and was presently staying in Mullanpur.

He has committed several burglaries and was a wanted criminal.

His accomplice Harpreet Singh, 21, a resident of Mullanpur, was also arrested.

The two were arrested from the jungle area near Sarangpur, after a snatching complaint was registered by a city-based woman.

The police claimed to have recovered from them stolen valuables worth Rs 2.1 lakh.

Sukhchain Singh Gill, UT senior superintendent of police, said, “Kamal Thakur and Harpreet Singh had carried out snatchings in different places in the city between April 6 and April 19. They had struck at Khuda Jassu, Khuda Lahora, Dhanas, Dadu Majra, and Sectors 14, 15 and 22.”

A case against Thakur in this regard has been registered at the Manimajra police station.
